The various nature trails and themed paths are particularly suitable for families, making it easy to experience and understand nature.

Cycling, mountain biking and e-biking

The well-surfaced Mur cycle path, which begins in Lungau is especially suitable for families. A number of distinctive side valleys with altitude differences of up to 1,000 metres are perfect for mountainbike enthusiasts. Enjoy a gentle ride on an e-bike. Pedal easily uphill and downhill with the help of a small electric motor. A wealth of alpine huts beckon for refreshments stops along the way.

Swimming & bathing

Particularly on hot days when the sun shines in the sky, a freshing cooling dip is welcome. Not far from our hotel you’ll find a number of outdoor swimming pools and the indoor pool at the Bathing island in Tamsweg boasts a variety of pools and a black hole water slide. A jump into the cool water and afterwards rays of sun on your skin – just perfect.


Concentration, condition and fighting spirit are required when you play on the golf course. Ecologically-planned, incorporating the natural methe course offers 18 holes, 9 holes, an indoor course, a practice area, a golf academy with shop and a golf restaurant. That’s golfing in style in the sunniest region in Austria.

Paragliding, gliding

What could more thrilling than gliding high up through the air with a parachute. There’s a paragliding team stationed in St. Michael offering jumps from the Aineck high above St. Margarethen. You’re also most welcome to try gliding in Mauterndorf, Austia’s highest alpine airfield and popular meeting-point for gliders.

Model aircraft

At the foot of Schloss Moosham lies the lovely-situated model aircraft field in Lungau with official slope flying area and well-groomed grass landing strip of 150 x 20 m in size. At an altitude of 1,100 m enthusiastic model makers, fascinated by the materials and technology of model flying meet up all year round.

Alpine passes for bikers

Freedom on 2 wheels. St. Margarethen makes an ideal base for impressive day trips on your motorbike. Arrival is recommended along the alpine route 99 – from Bischofshofen via Obertauern or from Spittal an der Drau. Heading east towards Styria there’s the Sölk Pass. Carinthia beckons with is famous pass roads Nockalm, Turrach and Maltatal. Heading west you can drive alng the world-famous Grossglockner and the Gerlos Alpine Road.
